A kind reminder:

African countries that are “likely” to get President Trump’s attention.

1. Countries with significant resources that are needed in Silicon Valley (rare-earth), and those with significant US investment.

2. Countries that may pose a long-term terror threat to the United States. The Sahel states fall here–depending on how his national security team argues it out.

3. North and some Sahel African countries that have normalized or are ready to normalize relations with Israel. He would like to revamp the “Abraham Accords”. Sudan may “benefit” from this. Morocco will be prioritized. Mauritania is another country.

4. The stability of the Red Sea route is likely to be a priority. The attacks are not good for business. It would be easy to convince Mr. Trump of this. This could lead to more cooperation with adjacent African states.

5. I am going to explain each of these in the coming days and weeks by giving details of countries and regions likely to be affected.”
