India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has praised his country’s diaspora in France for their efforts in improving Indo-French relationship for the development of both countries.
India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has praised his country’s diaspora in France for their efforts in improving Indo-French relationship for the development of both countries.
He made note of this while addressing members of the Indian diaspora at the La Seine Musicale in France on July 14, 2023, during his two-day visit to France.
Recounting his personal 40-year attachment with France during his membership of Alliance Francais, PM Modi, who was also the guest of honour at the Bastille Day celebrations said India and France are looking to deepen their long standing bilateral and strategic relationship, including their defence ties.
PM Modi noted that India has transitioned from the 10th to the 5th largest economy in the world within the past 10 years. He therefore reiterated the need for people-to-people connection as the strongest foundation of the India-France partnership in a strategic way.
“Wherever we go, we create a ‘mini-India’ there”, he said.
PM Modi also announced that Indian Masters students in France will be given a 5-year long term post study visa.
With India being the President of the G20; it is also the first country in the world where diaspora remittance has crossed $100 billion.
